Professor Nancy Henley specializes in research on language and nonverbal communication; issues of gender, power, change, semantics; psychology of women and gender; attitudes toward women and gender issues; and violence against women. She served as the editor for Psychology of Women Quarterly from 1980-1986, during which time she also directed the UCLA women's studies program, and in 1996 she received the Distinguished Contribution to Women in Psychology Award from the APA Committee on Women in Psychology.
